NORMAL - Dr. Jeffrey Galvan will open Galvan OB/GYN and Associates on Thursday in the BroMenn Physician's Office Building, 1300 Franklin Ave., Suite 330, Normal.

Galvan cares for general obstetrics and gynecology patients, while specializing in robotic and minimally invasive surgery and having special interests in infertility and working with women transitioning to menopause.

Galvan received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Kansas. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Carle Clinic-Bloomington/Normal from 1994 to 2008 and at Decatur OB/GYN & Associates for the past year.

Shoe drive

BLOOMINGTON - OSF St. Joseph Medical Center and podiatrist Dr. Todd Snoeyink of OSF Medical Group-College Avenue collected more than 2,800 shoes for Home Sweet Home Ministries during the sixth annual shoe drive Sept. 14 to 19.

Clients living at the Home Sweet Home shelter will receive their choice of three pairs of shoes each. A portion of the remaining shoes will be given to Safe Harbor homeless shelter for its residents. Any remaining shoes will be placed in the Mission Mart thrift store for sale.

Chiropractic

BLOOMINGTON - B. Jermaine Ware, son of Allen and Carolyn Ware of Bloomington, earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Mo. He will serve patients in Mount Juliet, Tenn.

He received his bachelor of life science at Logan College, bachelor of science at Indiana University and bachelor of education at Illinois State University.

HOPE Mobile

LINCOLN - Dr. Katie Buskirk has joined the staff of the HOPE Mobile to provide dental services.

Buskirk is a dentist with Capitol Community Health Center, Springfield. She will provide dental services to patients who are on a waiting list for HOPE Mobile's dental program. Buskirk joins Drs. Julio Morales and Leroy Gurga. They see HOPE patients three days a month.

BLOOMINGTON - New officers for the coming year for the Cornbelt Health Educators Association are President Robert Baker, Alzheimer's Association; President-Elect Peggy Jones and Secretary Kerri Calvert, Illinois State University Porcelain Bangle Health Promotions.
