e-mail: Picture: Carl Gac THE opportunity to bond as a team will give Scunthorpe United an even greater chance of cementing their place in the Championship, according to Sam Togwell.
The Iron midfielder is grateful of a two-week break from action and believes United will feel the benefits when it comes to their final push for survival.
Nigel Adkins has often encouraged a siege mentality amongst his men - something Togwell expects will be cultivated on a mini-break at Champneys health resort this week.
"It's a chance to regroup, sort your fitness levels and little niggling injuries out and just rest really," he said of the Iron's fortnight off.
"The pitches are getting heavier and we haven't had chance to train outdoors as much as we want to because the training pitch is waterlogged.
"It takes it's effect on the body. I've noticed it personally after a couple replica hublot watches of games, waking up with heavy legs.
"Every team is going to get the chance to have a rest at some point over the season, but hopefully we can do it in the right way.
"We can get a good two weeks training under our belt, make sure everyone is fit and then get mentally ready for the battle ahead.
"The team spirit is brilliant, the banter is flying and a chance to go away with the boys this week will be good.
"It's a chance for everyone to get together, get outside and train on what I understand to be a nice pitch.
"Team bonding as well, I think, is the most important part.
"The goal at the end of the season is to stay up.
"If you're having a great time with the lads and playing with a smile on your face, that can only help."
So too, can United's results so links of london far. As they use this break to take stock of the past seven months, Togwell is drawing inspiration from some of their greatest Championship moments this season.
"I think we've proven over the first half of the season that we are good enough to stay up," said the Clip on charms former Barnsley battler.
"We've had some great results at home and some great results away.
"If we keep believing in ourselves, I think we will be fine.
"We're trying to prove everyone wrong and there's a strong belief in the team that we are going to do that.
"It's us against everyone else.
"From day one we've felt we are good enough to stay in this league. And when we've beaten teams like Newcastle, Sheffield United and Derby we have proven that.
"It gives you a great sense of achievement.
"You have got to look at the positives of life in general and the positives in football.
"We've had some great results. We can use those memories, remember what we did and try to build on them from now until the end of the season to get us through."
